{"id":450,"date":"2020-11-07T12:51:52","date_gmt":"2020-11-07T12:51:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sniplyio.wpengine.com\/?p=450"},"modified":"2021-05-13T22:10:46","modified_gmt":"2021-05-13T22:10:46","slug":"how-to-set-up-a-semi-automatic-sharing-system-that-builds-relationships-and-drives-traffic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sniply.io\/blog\/how-to-set-up-a-semi-automatic-sharing-system-that-builds-relationships-and-drives-traffic\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Set up a Semi-Automatic Sharing System That Builds Relationships and Drives Traffic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As someone who runs growth at a company that is getting &gt;25% of our business from content marketing, when I found out about Snip.ly I got pretty damn excited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019d say something hyperbolic like \u201c<em>I practically did a backflip,<\/em>\u201d but in reality I just switched my desk from sitting mode to standing mode and started to dig into the software to figure out what I could do with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not very exciting, I know \u2013 but that\u2019s just how I work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest issues people face online is anonymity \u2013&nbsp;<strong>no one cares who you are<\/strong>. The process of building relationships in your industry online is tedious and takes time, but it\u2019s absolutely necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This strategy isn\u2019t designed to disrespect the work required to really gain a foothold in your industry. It\u2019s just something that I came up with to make building relationships with other bloggers and industry leaders a bit easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Idea<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By using Snip.ly to automatically share the best content from your favorite blogs, journalists, or websites in your industry, you\u2019ll do two things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Get on the radar of that person or site<\/li><li>Share content that is already proven to be popular, and drive some percentage of engagers back to your properties.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Sound good? Let\u2019s get into it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Sidenote<\/em><\/strong><em>: I adapted this strategy from my friends at&nbsp;Authority Hacker. They\u2019ve got a fantastic system set up for <a href=\"https:\/\/sniply.io\/blog\/why-people-share-links\/\">content promotion<\/a> and this Snip.ly strategy is just one of many.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What You\u2019ll Need<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/sniply.io\/\">Snip.ly<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/ifttt.com\/\">IFTTT<\/a>&nbsp;(If This Then That)<\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/bufferapp.com\/\">Buffer<\/a>&nbsp;or a preferred social media platform<\/li><li>A list of top blogs in your industry<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1: Create a Snip.ly account and set up RSS Feeds<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ll assume that you already know how to use Snip.ly at the most basic level. You have calls to action set up already and they\u2019re styled properly, linking to the right place, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once that\u2019s all done, go to Integrations &gt; RSS Feeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, take the top 2-5 blogs in your industry and drop the link to their RSS feed in. Snip.ly automatically spits out a new RSS feed with your preferred call to action appended to the content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong>:&nbsp;<strong>Use IFTTT to schedule shares in a sustainable way.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you have the feeds of your favorite sites all Snip.ly-ified, head on over to IFTTT and either create an account or log in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll be using the&nbsp;<strong>RSS<\/strong>&nbsp;channel for the IF portion of the action, and the&nbsp;<strong>Buffer<\/strong>&nbsp;channel for the THAT portion of the action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea here is simple: You\u2019ve pre-selected great content, but don\u2019t want to automatically tweet it out the instant it\u2019s published. It\u2019s much better to add a&nbsp;<em>buffer<\/em>&nbsp;(ahem) and send it to an app that places all of the shares in a holding zone so you don\u2019t overwhelm your audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The recipe is the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>If new RSS feed item from [snip.ly feed], then add a tweet to buffer.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re creative, you can extend this strategy far beyond what I\u2019ve outlined here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Send new RSS feed items to all social channels<\/li><li>Send new RSS feed items to Google Sheet where you can customize Tweet then one-click add to Buffer from there (better engagement)<\/li><li>Segment a site\u2019s feed by category and pair that with specific Snip.ly calls to action (what I will be trying next)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Remember to engage with your influencers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final step in this is optional, but highly recommended. You should aim to chat with the people whose content you are sharing on a regular basis. No matter who they are, chances are good that they like to hear their work is influencing people in some way or another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not uncommon to build relationships quickly this way.
